Key Information for HVMS Runners
The philosophy of the North Clackamas Middle School cross country league is for all participants to put sportsmanship first, and competition second.
Each runner needs to put forth their very best effort each practice and every meet. Personal improvement is guaranteed with effort.
Running shoes in decent condition are highly recommended. Running in other shoes, or over worn shoes can be painful. Spikes are not needed at this level.
A HVMS XC shirt, or PE shirt must be worn in order to compete in our meets.
Each race is 3 Kilometers (1.86 miles). Boys and girls will compete in 2 separate races.
Each meet is team scored for each race. The top 5 places contribute to the team score (regardless of grade). The team with the lowest score wins. Our championship meet will have awards for the top 10 individual finishers in each race.
Each district meet should begin by 4:45 (walk through) With races at 5:15 and 5:45 (Approximate). The League Championships will begin at 4:45 and 5:30 due to daylight. There will be no walk through.
Results from each race will be posted on athletic.net. There is a link on the teams website.
If a runner plays another sport that conflicts with practice, they may still participate in the meets if they attend 1 practice each week in addition to the meet. This must be approved by one of the coaches first.
We will ride a bus from HVMS to each Wednesday away meet. There will be a return bus that is shared by all 4 of the Middle Schools. It is highly recommended that parents drive home their students, or carpool.
There will be no district transportation for the Dragonslayer and the State Meet. You must ride with your parents or carpool. Anyone that carpools must have their parents sign a waiver.
You must have a ride home or carpool from practice by 5:30.
Each runner needs to help facilitate the race that they are not in. Plan on staying 15 minutes after the last race to help clean up at all 4 district meets.
Attitude and integrity are the most essential values in our sport. Every runner needs to cheer for and support every runner from each team.
