WHO MAKES UP THE PTO? If you are a parent or guardian of a child at Ardenwald you are a part of the “PTO”. There is a Board, elected for one-year terms, which consists of a President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. There are also non-board positions, which are served in one-year terms by elected coordinators.
WHO CAN COME TO A PTO MEETING? Anyone who is a part of our “PTO”
WHY ARE WE CALLED A “PTO” INSTEAD OF A “PTA”? “PTA” stands for “Parent Teacher Association” and to be a member of that Association it requires a yearly fee of $500. Our “PTO” which stands for “Parent Teacher Organization” requires no fees so all the monies raised and donated stay at Ardenwald and we don’t pay any unnecessary fees.
WHAT GOES ON AT MEETINGS? We discuss, learn, and help plan upcoming school events, vote on any purchases that need to be made, listen to teacher requests and guest speakers, and get to know other Ardenwald parents.
IF I COME TO A MEETING WILL I HAVE TO BE ON THE BOARD OR ON A COMMITTEE? No, but we do pass around sign-up sheets for those that have time to spare. It can be event specific and be as little or as much time as you have to offer. There is no pressure to volunteer.
WHEN ARE PTO MEETINGS? We meet the first Thursday of each month in Room 101. We start with a social at 6:00 pm and the business meeting is from 6:30-8:00 pm. Look for a flyer reminder every month in your child’s backpack, and posted on the school doors. Dates are also available on the Ardenwald web page.
