A Message from the Principal

Dear El Puente Families,
Our school has joined the Right Brain Initiative which is an organization that supports teaching the
Arts in schools all over the Metro area. The goal of the program is to bring the Arts into every aspect
of education from reading to critical thinking, social skills and motivation. and to create long-term,
lasting change within our own teaching. By working together with this organization:
● All students will have access to quality experiences in multiple art forms.
● Teachers and artists will work together as partners to integrate the arts and other core
curriculum areas.
● Students will create and perform/exhibit works of art and reflect upon works of art created
by themselves and others.
The Right Brain Initiative Organization will work together with our teachers and the artists to bring
high quality Art Residencies almost fully funded by the the Right Brain group. Next week, our 4th and
5th grade students will work with an artist who will teach the students about photography and they
will be creating projects that we hope will be displayed in some local shops. Next year, we‛ll bring
more classes and teachers on board as participants in the Right Brain Initiative project.
In addition to the Right Brain Initiative, the Kindergarten, First, Second and Third graders will be
doing an Art Residency of their own which will be funded by the PTA. They will be working with a
glass maker. Parent Sara McCarney is helping to organize this Residency and we‛ll be needing parent
volunteers when the time comes.
TOURS: El Puente Tours for interested parents continue every Tuesday from 8:30-9:30am. through
March 19. Let your friends and family know who have an incoming Kindergartener. They can call the
office (503-353-5480) to sign up for a tour.
SIBLINGS: If you haven‛t already, let the office know if you have an incoming Kindergarten sibling
coming in for next school year.

Queridas Familias de El Puente,
Nuestra escuela se ha unido a la Iniciativa Right Brain (Hemisferio Derecho del Cerebro) que es una
organización que apoya la enseñanza de Artes en escuelas de toda el área Metropolitana. El objetivo
del programa es llevar las Artes a cada aspecto de la educación; desde leer hasta pensamiento
fundamental, habilidades sociales y motivación y así crear un cambio a largo plazo y duradero dentro
de nuestra enseñanza. Trabajando con esta organización:
● Todos los estudiantes tendrán acceso a experiencias de calidad en diferentes formas de arte.
● Maestros y artistas trabajarán juntos para integrar las artes y otras áreas del currículum
común.
● Los estudiantes crearán y representarán/exhibirán trabajos de arte y reflexionarán en el arte
que ellos crearon y el de otros.
La Organización Right Brain Initiative trabajará con nuestros maestros y los artistas para traer
Residencias de Arte de calidad y en su mayoría serán financiadas por el grupo de Right Brain. La
próxima semana, nuestros estudiantes de 4to y 5to grado trabajarán con un artista quien les enseñará
sobre fotografía. Crearán proyectos que esperamos se puedan exhibir en algunas tiendas locales. El
próximo año, traeremos más clases y maestros como participantes en la Iniciativa Right Brain.
Además de la Iniciativa Right Brain, los estudiantes de Kindergarten, Primero, Segundo y Tercer grado
realizarán una Residencia de Arte propia que será financiada por la Asociación de Padres. Trabajarán
con un vidriero. Sara McCarney está ayudando a organizar la Residencia y estaremos necesitando a
padres voluntarios cuando llegue el momento.
TOURS: Los recorridos por El Puente para los padres que estén interesados continúan los martes de
8:30-9:30 am. hasta el 19 de marzo. Dígale a sus amigos y familia que tengan un niño en edad para
Kindergarten. Pueden llamar a la oficina 503-353-5480) para inscribirse en el tour.
HERMANOS: Por favor llamen a la oficina, si aún no lo han hecho, si tienen un hermano de un
estudiante que entrará al Kindergarten el próximo ciclo escolar.
