Snow Routes
Overview
Inclement Weather Areas
Inclement weather: Unpleasant weather which is stormy, rainy, or snowy, resulting in
flooding, downed trees, power lines etc., causing our buses to be unable to maneuver through
predetermined streets safely.
The Inclement Weather Areas have been established to allow administration
the option to move predetermined stops during a time of an inclement weather event.
Thus keeping schools open with all students that currently have transportation being
transported on their same route.
Roads or locations considered to be unsafe for our buses during inclement
weather would not be traveled and the students would then move to the inclement
weather stop determined by the transportation department. Areas with roads known
to be unsafe during inclement weather have been identified. These 6 areas allow
transportation to provide modified service in the sections of our district that may be
affected during an inclement weather event, without disrupting transportation for the
entire district.
When having an inclement weather event and it is determined to be unsafe for
our buses to travel in a specific area or areas, we will be using the school connects program to contact the families in the area(s) whose stop will be affected. The
information given will start with the day and date in which this change is happening. Explaining we will be using the inclement weather stop for Name of the school, the inclement area number, the bus route number, also stating that this will be for both the a.m. pickup and p.m. drop off. The inclement weather stop street names are given as well as the time the bus will be leaving from that stop.
