Dear View Acres Families,
Monday mornings have been a real celebration lately. At our weekly assemblies, we have awards for our clean classrooms, positive playground & cafeteria behavior and our Viking Victory Box has begun to overflow. Way to go View Acres, keep up the great effort!!! If you have a chance, stop by to check out one of our upcoming Monday Morning Meetings.
I have a challenge for View Acres! Over the next month I want us to strengthen our mathematical thinking by utilizing our IXL account (http://www.ixl.com/). Starting this week and continuing until April 26th, let’s see if our school can practice math on IXL for 240 hours. That’s a steep challenge, but I know we can achieve this goal. This is a great chance for our students in grades 3-5 to prepare for the upcoming OAKS math test.
Students love to learn both in school and at home. Spring Break presents some opportunities to not only re-connect as a family, but also to continue growing as learners. If you have the opportunity, take advantage of one of our Reading Incentive awards and visit the Portland Aquarium (Thanks to their generosity, your student received a voucher for admission). If you take a trip to the zoo or a museum, have your child bring a journal along and write about something they find interesting. Visit the library, find some books to dive into and talk about. Cooking together will sharpen not only their measuring & math skills, the result will be a yummy experience you both can enjoy. I look forward to hearing about how our students make the most of Spring Break!
Enjoy your time together!
