BizTown for 5th Grade

5th Graders Experience
"Business World" for one day

After weeks of study, the View Acres 5th graders became citizens for a day of BizTown. This annual event is funded by the PTO with funds raised by the Jog-a-thon.

They held jobs as bankers, restaurant and pet shop owners, reporters, and they voted for a mayor. Their classroom study focused on basic economic principles and entrepreneurship.

Students had a chance to explore opportunities available in a free enterprise system, as business operators, taxpayers and lawmakers. They were decision makers, leaders and learned the importance of working as a team. They experienced all the challenges adults face in these careers each day.

Their hands-on learning experience helped them to "connect the dots" from classroom learning to the real world and increase understanding of economic principles. It could not have been successful without our parent volunteers. A very big thank you goes out to all who volunteered to go with the three classes.
