Welcome to Whitcomb!

Welcome to Lot Whitcomb Elementary School! We are located in Milwaukie, OR, just southeast of Portland. Our building was built in 1959 and has been part of the rich traditions of our local community for fifty years. We have a staff that is committed to providing the strong foundation students need for their future academic careers. Our school has a wonderful community that celebrates its diversity, cares for one another, and is focused on learning. We set high standards for our students and work hard to meet and exceed those standards.

Lot Whitcomb serves an enrollment of approximately 500 students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Our school is named after Lot Whitcomb, an early pioneer who arrived in the Oregon Territory in 1847. He owned a sawmill and grist mill, built a schooner that traveled from Milwaukie to Sacramento, was a territorial legislator, and was postmaster of Milwaukie. He also founded our town in 1847-1848. It is exciting to be named after an important man in the history of our community!

• To offer support such as the CAFE after school program, the Ready, Set, Go Spanish pre-school program, mentoring from local high schools, and bilingual parenting classes.
• To host five popular family nights for back to school, reading and writing, math, art, and science!
