A Piece of my Heart

Clackamas High School is honored to present A Piece of my Heart a true story of sacrifice, service, and survival. The show runs for one weekend only on March 2, 3, 4 at 7:00pm with a Sunday matinee on March 5 at 2:00pm. A Piece of my Heart is the winner of the The Barbara Deming Prize for Women Playwrights and the Kittredge Foundation Award.

This is a powerful, true drama of six young women who went to Vietnam: five nurses and a country western singer booked by an unscrupulous agent to entertain the troops. The play portrays each young women before, during and after her tour in the war-torn jungle and ends as each leaves a personal token at The Wall in Washington, D.C. The play features a multilingual cast, authentic Vietnamese dance, and live music throughout the show.  

A Piece of My Heart was named the "The most enduring play on Vietnam in the nation," by The Vietnam Vets Association.  The New York Times commented, "There have been a number of plays dealing with Vietnam, but none with the direct, emotional impact of Ms. Lauro's work.
