What do children learn in elementary school? What knowledge, skills, and abilities are the focus for each grade level?
Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for English language arts and mathematics have been adopted by 48 states, including Oregon, were created by teachers, parents, and education experts. They provide clear, consistent expectations for what students should be learning at each grade to be prepared for college and career. The National PTA created parent guides by level to help parents understand ways they can support their child in meeting the national standards. These are available in English and in Spanish on the PTA website at http://pta.org/parents/content.cfm?ItemNumber=2583
