New Superintendent sets Education Priorities

Superintendent Matt Utterback kicked off the new school year with a focus on three priorities for the district team:

1)  Literacy:  Across grade levels & subjects, teachers will increase writing instruction & non-fiction reading, skills proven to boost college success.

2)  Quality Instruction:  Instructional engagement will be emphasized, with frequent teacher check-ins to ensure student understanding at each step of a  lesson.

3)  Equity:  Employees will have high expectations for each student, providing equitable access to programs, plus support for individual needs.  The goal is equity of college & career options for all.

Mr. Utterback plans to visit schools each morning for a first-hand look at building initiatives, operations, and needs.
