This plan includes bringing both Varsity Softball and Varsity Baseball together on artificial turf fields. The complex will also allow for a full artificial turf football/soccer field. Other amenities will include new spectator seating, press boxes, field lighting, restrooms, concession stand and changing rooms in addition to the current batting facility. Parking areas will expand to include a turnaround with parallel parking and a walking path to the adjacent JV softball field at Milwaukie/El Puente elementary.
Specifically, the following improvements will be made:
- JV Baseball will move to Rowe Middle School to allow for Varsity Softball to join the Varsity Baseball field and share facilities
- Field lighting will be added. Please note that new technology eliminates any light leakage beyond the field and will not cause any bright lights to shine into any adjacent neighbor windows.
- A multi-use building that will house a concession stand, bathrooms and changing facilities for players. This building will be locked during non-school use.
- Artificial turf infield and outfields, which will allow for a full size soccer/football field to overlay the outfield of the baseball field.
- Improved access and parking via a turnaround at the far north end.
- Improved site grading, drainage and storm water retention.
- Improved access with a lighted walking path to the adjacent school property at Milwaukie Elementary and the JV Softball field that is currently used there.
Construction on the fields at the Milwaukie Lake Road site is a 6-month process, currently scheduled to begin late May 2018 and completed by the end of November 2018. Living next to construction is not very easy and we recognize that this may be inconvenient and possibly disruptive at times. The contractor for these fields is SKANKSA and the superintendent on the project will be available to respond to your questions or concerns during construction. They are an amazing company and we have found their leadership to be very responsive. They will make sure that you are continually informed of their schedule and will work to minimize disruptions as much as possible.
Timeline:
Construction to begin May 2018 and completion by December 2018.
