Filipino American History Month
This October, the North Clackamas School District proudly honors the rich history, culture, and contributions of Filipino Americans to the United States.
Filipino American History Month (FAHM) has been celebrated since 1988, marking the first recorded presence of Filipinos in the continental U.S. On October 18, 1587, "Luzones Indios" arrived from the Spanish galleon Nuestra Señora de Esperanza, landing at what is now Morro Bay, California.
As the third-largest AAPI group in the U.S. and the second-largest in California, Filipinx Americans have played a vital role in shaping and enriching our nation throughout history. Let’s take this time to reflect on their invaluable contributions and celebrate the diverse fabric of our community!
