Community Outreach Specialist

The role of the Community Outreach Specialist (COS) is to partner with parents and guardians who have students in special education and need support and/or resources to help foster their student’s physical, social, and emotional well-being. When school teams have already provided assistance but an unmet need remains, school staff can make a referral to access COS services.

The COS helps families connect to and navigate resources both inside and outside of schools with a trauma-informed approach. The COS is available as a support person for individualized education plan (IEP) or other school meetings and can help facilitate two-way communication between families and school staff.  The COS collaborates with local community partners and service organizations to help students and families meet identified needs.

Catherine is bilingual in English and Spanish and can provide services in other languages with interpretation. If you are a parent of a student who receives special education services and feel like you would benefit from her services, please reach out via email or telephone to discuss your needs and next steps.
