In order to reduce the number of students who are suspended for more than 10 days, a Manifestation Determination (MD) meeting is required when a student reaches 7 days of suspension. At the IEP meeting, if the team determines that the behavioral which led to the suspensions are a result of the student's disability, the team will conduct a functional behavioral assessment (FBA) and develop a behavioral support plan (BSP). If there is a BSP in place, the team will review and revise the BSP as appropriate to reduce the risk of future suspensions.
