Services for English Learners
Making a difference for the students we serve
The North Clackamas School District (NCSD) is enriched by a diverse community of students and families, who speak over 75 languages, with Spanish, Russian, Chinese, Vietnamese, and Ukrainian being the most prevalent. We provide targeted English language instruction aligned to the state English Language Proficiency Standards to over 2,300 students, supported by skilled English Language Development Specialists in each school. Our mission is to ensure that English learners fully access the curriculum and meet high academic standards.
Bilingual Instructional Paraeducators collaborate with school staff to address communication needs and help families navigate school programs and opportunities. Our central office is dedicated to ongoing professional development for teachers, administrators and support staff. Services for English Learners works closely with other district teams to integrate the needs of English learners into specialized services, including Talented and Gifted, and Special Education.
