Classified Wage Schedule for the 2024 - 2025 School Year
- School Bus Assistant -- Job Group B: $17.37 - $24.45
- Van Route Driver -- Job Group C: $18.67 – $26.27
- Bus Driver in Training -- Job Group C: $18.67 (Job Group E after training)
- Bus Route Driver -- Job Group E: $23.03 - $32.43

What does NCSD offer its school bus drivers?
- Permanent part-time and full-time bus and van route drivers.

Minimum of 4 hours per day. Most routes are 6+ hours long each day. All routes bid on a seniority basis. If routes are not available the position would remain as Standby (guaranteed hours but no assigned route). Likely to gain base hours rapidly.

Split-shift scheduling:

Typical AM routes are between 6:00 AM - 10:00 AM

Typical PM routes are between 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM

Equal pay contracts; which means your earnings are spread across the course of the entire year. Get paid during summer when you aren't working!

Opportunities to work extra hours by subbing middays, taking field trips, athletic trips, etc.

Salary: Initial wage placement according to NCSD/OSEA Collective Bargaining Agreement.

PERS: The district contributes the employer portion; there is also a mandatory employee portion. Upon eligibility, which is defined as working at least six full calendar months in a qualifying position, the employee is required to contribute 6% as their employee portion, via payroll deduction. Part-time employees working at least six months and 600 hours in a calendar year will qualify.

Fringe Benefits: Medical, Vision and Dental health care options through Kaiser or NC Health Plan (a Regence based plan). The district contributes towards the premium based on the number of hours in base time and health plan selected.

The school year is approximately 183 days September through June with time off including winter break in December, spring break in March, along with all major holidays and summer!

Six month probationary period on all transportation perm hired positions.

All school bus driving positions required Pre-placement DOT physicals, physical capacity tests and DOT regulated drug testing.
School bus driving is also a required DOT random drug testing position per the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA).
